NFPA Codes and Standards: NFCSS provides subscribers with online and offline access to over 300 Codes and Standards – both current and previous editions.
Handbooks: Current and previous edition handbooks contain full code text in addition to: commentary written by leading electrical and fire protection authorities; examples of correct code applications; and hundreds of photos, tables, diagrams and charts to help clarify code requirements.
PDF downloads: Subscribers can download PDFs of individual standards, State Code Editions, and the Annual Code Set for offline access.
Custom List: Single-user subscribers have the ability to create custom checklists using the codes/standards needed to perform an inspection or plans review. With the Custom List tool, users will also be able to take personalized notes and print or download the lists they create from within NFCSS.
Bookmarks: Single-users can add bookmarks to the online content you refer to most often.
Email capabilities: Subscribers can share content with colleagues via email. The recipient will have complimentary 48-hour access to that code content.
Create citations: A handy citation tool will allow you to create and save NFPA document citations in your presentations, documents, reports, or proposals.
Interactive search: Enter a keyword or phrase in the search box located in the toolbar to find specific content. You can search across all documents or limit search within a document.
Print options: Print entire code chapters or sections—with or without tables and graphics—or graphics alone. Subscribers can also print their user notes—the text appears at the end of the section/chapter.
To download a PDF of a code or standard for offline use, you need to be logged-in and connected to the internet. Find the code you wish to download and simply click the ‘Download’ button while viewing the document. You will be prompted to save the document to your computer.
If downloading to mobile device, you should have a wifi connection in order to accommodate the data usage. Larger PDFs, including the National Fire Code set PDF, may take a considerable amount of time to download on slower internet connections.
NFPA recommends you create a folder on your computer specifically for NFPA documents so they will be easy to find.
Online content can be printed using the print icon located in the tool bar and at the beginning of each chapter section. When the icon is clicked, a screen pops up with the option to print the section or chapter. PDF content can be printed by choosing the print icon from the Adobe Reader.
To create a bookmark, simply click the ‘bookmark’ icon in the toolbar or at the beginning of a chapter or section. Access them quickly by clicking the My Favorites link in the upper right hand corner of your window. This feature is currently available for individual subscribers only.
To create or save a citation, simply click the ‘cite this’ icon in the toolbar or at the beginning of a chapter or section. Access them quickly by clicking the My Favorites link in the upper right hand corner of your window.
You may access your Account Settings, change your password, email, address, etc. by clicking on the My Profile link in the upper right hand corner of your window.
NFCSS All Access is a single user service and you may not share your log on information. If there are multiple people in your organization who need access to the National Fire Codes online, see the Contact page for more details on multi-user licenses.
